Self Portrait

In the Self Portrait project, we were tasked to use multiple screen printing methods while incorporating different found and personal images, patterns, colors, textures, and styles to create an abstract self-portrait. I made four copies of the print using colors and imagery that meant something to me as an individual. Some of the struggles of this project were trial and error. Sometimes it was hard to get lines right, the color wouldn't show exactly the shade I wanted, or the ink would bleed a bit into the rest of the piece but I learned to work around it and use the little flaws to my advantage in the final prints. This project brought back the love for screenprinting I had in high school and how even the business side of screenprinting is something I enjoy. What I took away from this project is how screenprinting an abstract version of myself was a creative treat I needed away from the digital design world.

What I learned: This gave me the base methods for my screen printing style, and I keep wanting to grow from this and build more experience.
